The child support case involving Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic and his former fiancée Anamaria Goltes was officially dismissed Friday following a brief remote court hearing.

Attorneys for both sides appeared before Los Angeles County Judge Melissa C. Lyons, with Doncic’s lawyer Laura Wasser arguing that the case should never have been filed.

“I believe that was in our paperwork, your honor, that this never should have been filed in the first place,” Wasser said.

Wasser then noted that Goltes’ attorney, Evan C. Itzkowitz, was seeking to withdraw the case entirely. Itzkowitz confirmed that was “correct,” explaining that an earlier dismissal request had been rejected because of a signature issue.

“We actually filed it and it was rejected for lack of signature by Mr. Doncic, which is not required,” Itzkowitz said. “We have resubmitted it based on a recommendation by a clerk.”

Lyons granted the dismissal without prejudice, leaving open the possibility that the case could be filed again later.

Goltes initially sought child support in March. Doncic later hired Wasser, who argued that the California filing was “a clear attempt to forum shop and avail herself of the generous amounts of child support for which California is well-known.”

When requesting the dismissal earlier this month, Goltes said she hoped to resolve the matter “amicably and by a mutual agreement which is in the best interests of our children.”

The dismissal ends the current California court proceedings between the former couple, although their broader dispute may not yet be resolved.
