The Toronto Raptors and guard Malachi Smith have signed a contract. The deal is likely a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 training camp contract. That gives Smith and opportunity to compete for a roster spot, while also allowing the Raptors to convert him to a two-way contract.

Smith played in 15 games for the Brooklyn Nets last season. The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 8.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 23.9 minutes per game. Smith was waived by the Nets this offseason, as the team created the salary cap space to complete several acquisitions.

Toronto now has 17 players signed to standard or training camp contracts. The Raptors still have the pending trade of Brandon Ingram and Gradey Dick for Kawhi Leonard. If that deal is completed, that will open an additional roster spot for Toronto.
