Former NBA player Matt Ryan publicly defended Enes Kanter Freedom after Kanter faced criticism over his stance on men’s athletes competing in women’s sports.

Ryan wrote in a comment, arguing that the former NBA center was being unfairly criticized for trying to protect women’s sports.

“Just insane times we are living in. Getting demonized for trying to PROTECT women’s sports and calling out the absurdity that the WNBA cannot define what the W is… just unreal and sad,” Ryan wrote.

“Hopefully you’ll force them to come to their senses, be REAL leaders, and protect the future young women,” he added.

Kanter has recently been outspoken about men’s participation in women’s basketball, prompting both criticism and support on social media.
