Stephen Curry isn't eligible to extend his contract with the Golden State Warriors until the end of August, but that hasn't stopped speculation about what might happen. For Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr., he has confidence Curry isn't leaving the Bay Area anytime soon.

"He hasn't (said any different)," Dunleavy said in a meeting with the media on Tuesday. "That's always been the message. That's always been what he's discussed. I think that's tracking quite well."

Curry has said he wants to continue to play after this season and that he prefers to stay with the Warriors for his entire career. Dunleavy said that it's ultimately Curry's decision on how things play out, but that he has no reason to believe he won't stay with Golden State.

"Ultimately it's his call, his decision, whether that's allowing his contract to run out and move on," Dunleavy said. "Look, if he comes to me and wants to be moved, (team governor) Joe (Lacob) and I will talk it through. We wouldn't love it. But he's earned the right to do what he wants. But as far as the messaging or any idea that he'd be anywhere else, that's not a thing we're looking at or he's looking at."

Curry is eligible to sign a two-year extension worth $136.7 million on August 29. The Warriors and Curry could also work out a plan for the team to have over $100 million in cap space in the summer of 2027. Some of that cap space would go towards re-signing Curry. But, as the team did with Draymond Green this summer, the Warriors could look at other moves first before working out a new deal with Curry. Dunleavy said winning remains Curry's top priority, along with playing for Golden State for his entire career.

"There's two things I'm confident about with Steph," Dunleavy said. "He really, really wants to win and he wants to finish his career as a Warrior. I don't think that changes tomorrow, Aug. 29, start of the season, middle of the season, end of next season. Those things are going to be consistent."
