Pelle Larsson delivered a standout performance for Sweden despite an 84-69 loss to France in the 2027 FIBA World Cup European Qualifiers, via FIBA.

The Miami Heat guard led all scorers with 23 points in 34 minutes, helping Sweden stay within striking distance of a French team led by Victor Wembanyama.

Larsson scored 18 of his points in the first half as Sweden went into halftime tied at 38-38.

Sweden remained competitive deep into the fourth quarter and even held a 65-64 lead with five minutes remaining.

France eventually took control down the stretch, closing the game with a decisive run to secure the 84-69 victory.

Larsson finished 4-of-9 from the field, including 2-of-3 from three-point range, while making 13 of his 16 free throws.

He also recorded one rebound and one assist, although he committed seven turnovers.

Afterward, Larsson was critical of his own performance despite leading the game in scoring, admitting fatigue affected him late.

“I’m tired. My conditioning didn’t hold up, so I threw the ball away a bunch of times completely unforced,” Larsson said.
