High-end bikes and components tend to draw a lot of attention, but mid-range components are important to a lot of riders. Not everyone is a competitive racer, and some of us have to ride within a reasonable budget… but still need parts that function well! Shimano has always offered a wide range of options, and today they’re announcing the newest generation of their DEORE component group.
The updated DEORE groupset includes technology borrowed from Shimano’s higher-end components to offer consistent, powerful brakes, fast mechanical shifting under load, impact-resistant derailleurs, and refined cockpit ergonomics. The new mechanical DEORE parts come in the same black and grey finish as the DEORE Di2 groupset, and the lineup includes suitable options for XC, trail, and enduro riding. Knowing Shimano, we’ll likely see some of this technology shared with other incoming groupsets.
DEORE Derailleurs
Shimano’s updated groupset starts with three new DEORE derailleurs. They aim to deliver reliable shifting even under pedalling forces, and select models feature Shimano’s new SHADOW ES low-profile wedge shape to deflect impacts from rocks or roots. The derailleur bodies feature a wide, braced linkage and durable, solid pulleys that keep debris out. Their dual-spring design maintains higher chain tension, ensuring better chain wrap and retention. Here are the three models:
RD-M7200 DEORE derailleur for 12-speed HYPERGLIDE+

This is the top HYPERGLIDE+ model in the new DEORE lineup. It features SHADOW ES technology, solid pulleys, and a steel cage. It comes with a long cage for compatibility with 12-speed 10-51t cassettes. MSRP is $100.
RD-M6200 DEORE derailleur for 12-speed HYPERGLIDE+

The RD-M6200 is a lower-cost version of the 12-speed DEORE derailleur. It utilizes SHADOW+ RD technology, so you don’t get the updated impact-deflecting body shape on this model. This derailleur features a clutch to stabilize your chain, and a long steel cage to work with 10-51t 12-speed cassettes. This model sells for $65.
RD-M7230 DEORE derailleur for 11-speed LINKGLIDE

For those running 11-speed LINKGLIDE drivetrains, the RD-M7230 derailleur offers SHADOW ES tech, plus solid pulleys and a steel cage. A long cage allows compatibility with 11-50t 11-speed cassettes, a setup that offers optimal durability, strength, and smooth shifting. Its retail price is $100.
DEORE Shifters:

Shimano has revised its DEORE shifters to improve ergonomics and offer a more precise shifting feel. The new levers have a shorter stroke and an optimized paddle that follows a nearly straight path for the first two shifts. Shimano says this matches the movement of the hand and feels more natural to operate.
There are three new DEORE shifters: A 12-speed multi-shift capable model for unassisted bikes, a 12-speed single-shift version for eMTBs, and an 11-speed LINKGLIDE model. All are available with either I-SPEC EV or clamp band options. All models retail for $30.
SL-M6200 DEORE 12-speed HYPERGLIDE+

The SL-M6200 shifter offers multi-shift capability for non-assisted bikes. It’s RAPIDFIRE PLUS tech provides fast and precise shifting. This model features 2-way release paddles, and the main lever can shift up to three gears in one throw. This derailleur is compatible with Shimano’s previous 12-speed drivetrains as well.
SL-M6210 DEORE 12-speed HYPERGLIDE+
For eMTBs, the SL-M6210 is limited to single shifts only. Aside from that, it features the same technology as the above model. It is also compatible with previous Shimano 12-speed drivetrains.
SL-M6230 DEORE 11-speed LINKGLIDE
To match the derailleur lineup, there is an 11-speed LINKGLIDE shifter option, offering ultra-smooth shifting even under load. This shifter features RAPIDFIRE PLUS technology and 2-way release paddles. The main lever can shift two gears in one throw, and the new model is compatible with older LINKGLIDE 11-speed drivetrains.
DEORE FC-M6200 Crankset:

The updated DEORE FC-M6200 crankset is a two-piece crank designed to offer efficient power transfer, plus optimal rigidity and durability. It features a 24mm steel axle, a 176mm q-factor, and a 55mm chainline. Crank arms are available in 165, 170, and 175mm lengths.
The cranksets come with Shimano’s new direct mount one-piece steel chainrings. These rings feature Shimano’s DYNAMIC CHAIN ENGAGEMENT technology, which improves efficiency, durability, and chain retention. 30 or 32t rings are available.
MSRP is the same for all crank arm lengths or chainring options at $100.
DEORE Cassettes:
There will be two new 12-speed DEORE cassettes available, covering two different price points. The main difference is that the higher-end CS-M7200 model includes an alloy 51t cog, while the lower-end model runs all steel cogs.
CS-M7200-12 DEORE 12-speed HYPERGLIDE+ 10-51T cassette

Aside from the weight-saving alloy 51t ring, this MICRO SPLINE cassette’s updated construction offers increased strength. This model sells for $180.
CS-M6200 DEORE 12-speed HYPERGLIDE+ 10-51T cassette

While the CS-M6200 cassette sticks with all steel cogs, it does include an alloy carrier to keep the weight reasonable. Like the above model, it is MICRO SPLINE compatible. MSRP is $140.
DEORE Brakes:
Last but not least are the new DEORE brakes. The updated brake levers and calipers feature technology borrowed from Shimano’s higher-end XTR and DEORE XT brakes. They deliver fine-tuned power delivery, predictable modulation, and consistent performance across changing temperatures and terrain.
The new groupset includes one updated lever with 4-piston or 2-piston caliper options. The calipers get upgraded internal seals and use Shimano’s reformulated low-viscosity mineral oil. This oil helps ensure smooth fluid flow and consistent brake feel in varying temperatures.
BL-M6200 DEORE Brake Lever

The new DEORE brake lever features Shimano’s SERVO WAVE power curve and durable alloy levers. They’ve cleaned up the lever’s appearance and routed the brake hose so it runs parallel with your handlebar. The new levers are I-SPEC EV compatible.
BR-M6220 Enduro/Trail Brake Caliper

The BR-M6220 is the 4-piston caliper option suitable for trail or enduro riders (or anyone who favors braking power over weight savings). These rigid two-piece calipers feature dual-diameter pistons and seals that offer consistent rebound speed.
The 4-piston DEORE brake calipers with BL-M6200 levers sell for $155 (front) and $160 (rear).
BR-M6200 XC Brake Caliper

For less intense descending or weight savings, the 2-piston BR-M6200 calipers offer the same features and construction as the above model (except dual diameter pistons, of course) in a lighter, leaner package.
The 2-piston calipers/BL-M6200 levers retail for $120 (front) and $125 (rear).
