Stephen Curry expects to finish his NBA career with the Golden State Warriors, saying he is “pretty sure” the sides will reach an agreement on his next contract. Curry remains under contract for the 2026-27 season, with his future extension becoming a key issue for Golden State.

“There’s no question I want to be here the rest of my career, and I’m pretty sure that’s going to happen,” Curry said, per Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area. “The deal and the contract stuff will happen at the right time, and we’re not letting it be a distraction from our preparation for the season.”

Curry’s comments come after a 2025-26 season in which he was limited to 43 games, starting 41, while averaging 26.6 points, 4.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds in 30.9 minutes. He shot 46.8% from the field, 39.3% from 3-point range on 11.3 attempts per game and 92.3% from the free-throw line.

The missed time contributed to Golden State finishing 37-45 and 10th in the Western Conference. The Warriors entered the play-in tournament after going 15-26 on the road and 22-19 at home during the regular season.

Curry has spent his entire 17-year NBA career with Golden State. He has played 1,069 regular-season games for the Warriors, averaging 24.8 points, 6.3 assists and 4.7 rebounds while shooting 47.1% from the field, 42.2% from 3-point range and 91.2% from the free-throw line.

His career résumé includes four NBA championships, two regular-season MVP awards and the 2022 Finals MVP award. Curry also has 11 All-NBA selections and 12 All-Star appearances, including his selection in 2025-26.

Curry acknowledged that his availability will be an important factor for the Warriors entering the upcoming season. “Hopefully we can be healthy and just have a chance to show what we’re capable of, myself included, missing so many games last year,” he said.

Golden State largely retained its veteran core during the offseason. Draymond Green returned on a one-year, $27.7 million contract, while Kristaps Porzingis received a two-year, $40 million extension and Al Horford re-signed for two years and $14 million.

The Warriors also re-signed De’Anthony Melton, Gary Payton II and Charles Bassey before adding Georges Niang and Brandon Williams in late August. Golden State selected Yaxel Lendeborg with the No. 11 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft and signed him to a four-year rookie-scale contract.

The offseason followed Golden State’s unsuccessful pursuit of LeBron James, who ultimately signed with the Philadelphia 76ers. The Warriors made no trades during the offseason and now enter the season with Curry, Green, Jimmy Butler, Porzingis and Horford as the veteran foundation.

Curry, Green and Butler are all positioned to become free agents after the 2026-27 season, making Curry’s eventual extension particularly significant for Golden State’s long-term roster planning.
