Islam will enter this evening’s contest sporting a 16-fight winning streak, which includes recent triumphs over Renato Moicano, Dustin Poirier and Alex Volkanovski.

Meanwhile, Ian Machado Garry (17-1 MMA) will be returning to action for the first time since scoring a unanimous decision victory over former division champion Belal Muhammad this past November in Qatar. Prior to that triumph, ‘The Future’ was coming off an impressive win over Carlos Prates.

Round one of the UFC 330 main event begins and Islam Makhachev lands a low kick to start. Ian Machado Garry paws away with his jab. The champ shoots in and is able to score a takedown. ‘The Future’ isn’t staying down but Makhachev still has him pinned on one knee against the cage. Good knees to the thigh from the Russian. Round three of the UFC 330 headliner begins and Ian Machado Garry lands a nice oblique kick. He goes low and attacks the lead leg of the champ. Islam Makhachev looks to reply but his shots fall short. ‘The Future’ with a head kick that partially connects. Makhachev forces the clinch. He looks for a takedown. ‘The Future’ reverses the position. He separates and lands a hard body kick. Islam appears to be slowing down a bit. Ian Machado Garry with a pair of solid kicks. The fifth and final round of the UFC 330 headliner begins and the fighters show respect before they battle ensues. Ian Machado Garry with a front kick to the body that falls short. He lands a nice right hand. That appeared to stun the champ. Another sharp right from the Irish star. Makhachev shoots in and scores a timely takedown. ‘The Future’ is right back to his feet, but the Russian has him in a body lock. Another takedown from Makhachev. He takes the back of Garry. The champ is looking for a choke. He switches to body shots. He begins working for a rear-naked choke. Garry defends to see the final horn but it won’t be enough.
