Women’s MMA pioneer Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino plans to continue fighting after what was coined as her ‘retirement fight’ at PFL Tampa.

Former UFC women’s featherweight champion Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino fought for what was perceived as the final time in the cage earlier this year at PFL Tampa. In what was coined as her farewell appearance, Justino defeated former UFC standout Ketlen Vieira by unanimous decision to move to 30-2-1 in her career.

After the fight, Justino seemed to be leaning towards retirement instead of potentially exploring another return to the cage. Justino also offered to ‘save’ UFC 332 with a rematch against Amanda Nunes before the card was recently finalized.

Despite her recent ‘retirement’, and an open offer from Conor McGregor to fight in Bare Knuckle FC, Justino isn’t hanging up the gloves yet.

In a recent tweet, Justino announced her decision to postpone her retirement plans.

“I’m not ready to retire…Not yet,” Justino began.

“If I walked away today, there would be no major MMA promotion with a women’s 145 lb division. That’s unacceptable…I’ve always wanted my legacy to be about the opportunities I helped create for other women, just as much as the titles and records I earned myself…

“Look at women’s boxing: multiple weight classes, real choices, real careers. In MMA, women are still limited,” Justino continued. “I have always fought for women to have the same platform as men…the fight continues.”

Justino could potentially play a key role in Most Valuable Promotions’ next MMA event in 2027. After MVP merged with the PFL, the umbrella promotion is expected to host several marquee events next year.

Justino could potentially square off with longtime adversary Ronda Rousey in an MMA fight. Rousey defeated Gina Carano at the inaugural MVP MMA card earlier this year.
